The collar receiver works on a battery which should be checked regularly. If the battery spoils, chances of your dog getting lost or being knocked by a vehicle are high. Also, the dog can bite passerby and land you in a big trouble.

This way of containment limits the freedom of your dog within an area of your choice thereby causing distress to the dog.
